Autumn has arrived, but is your home looking autumn-ready? Don’t worry, you won’t need to spend a lot of time to make your place feel festive. From the cooler, crisp weather to the amazing vibrant colors, fall is definitely my favorite time of year. I’ve found so many wonderful ways to bring the colors of fall into your home. Check out these 5 fall decorations you can buy and make on a budget, and get your home feeling cozy this autumn.

1. DIY Fall Ribbon Wreath

Let your guests know you mean business before they even enter your home. You'll need a wreath form or a clothes hanger (a wire one) and ribbon, lots of ribbon in autumn colors. Just wrap, form, and tie the ribbon through the wire until you have the wreath as thick as you want it. Embellish as much as you want. Get inventive incorporating elements of fall, such as autumn leaves, pinecones, and pumpkins.

2. Rustic Mason Jars

Fall beverages taste better in a mason jar. Start with a mason jar that has a raised design. Use a foam brush to apply chalk finish paint over the surface of the jar and let it dry thoroughly. Once the paint is totally dry, use a sanding block to lightly rub over the raised design to distress the jar. Tie the twine around the top of the jar and finish with a knot or bow. That’s it!

3. Turn Pumpkins Into Planters

Remember when you carved pumpkins? It's like that, but easier. Dress up your pumpkins and decorate your porch or yard with amazingly unique planters. Just a bit of paint will give those pumpkins a really original look. Make a hole large enough for a potted plant, carve out the inside, cut a hole at the bottom for drainage, and then just add your mums or other fall plants.

4. Leaf Mason Jar Candle Holders

Leaf no candle holder unfestive. Clean the outside of your mason jars with rubbing alcohol to get any grease and grime off the outside of the jar. Find some leaves (real or fake) and make sure the leaves you picked are bendable, stiff leaves will not work. Paint a thin layer of Mod Podge onto the outside of the mason jar, then wait a few minutes until tacky. Stick leaves to glass, add more Mod Podge and leaves until you are happy with your leafy design. Tie a ribbon around the top of the jar, place a votive or tealight candle of choice, done!

5. Mum Decorations

Mum's the word for a splash of fall color on your porch, patio, or anywhere you want that extra something outdoors. Mums come in just about all colors, from autumn classic colors like orange, red, and yellow to unexpected white, pink, and purple. These flowers love the sun, so make sure to give them what they love.

Announce the arrival of autumn with these easy projects. Carve the pumpkins and cover the walls in rustic shades. Celebrate this festive season with vibrant decorations for both indoors and out. Make it your own, and have fun!
