Erdmann Exterior Designs’ Siding Contractors Transform Western Springs Home With New James Hardie Siding

As professional siding contractors, we help improve the looks and energy efficiency of a lot of homes in the Chicagoland area. But some projects stand out for their incredible transformation; a recent project in Western Springs is a good example of this. This home needed a complete overhaul and our Wheaton siding contractors rose to the occasion and we are so excited to share it with you!

The homeowners had their choice of vinyl, cedar, or James Hardie fiber cement siding. They chose James Hardie siding by our Wheaton contractors for its beauty, durability, and polished look.

Checklist Of Improvements

What makes this project stand out from our other projects is that it was a complete exterior remodel. Rather than piecemeal replacement or simply swapping out old siding for new, this project covered it all:
  • New James Hardie siding.
  • New gutters, soffits, and fascia.
  • New doors and windows with Satin Nickel hardware.
  • Newly built front entry.
  • New front door.
  • Improved bow windows.
  • Newly built garage dormer.
  • New garage door.
As you can see, there was hardly a part of the home's exterior that we didn't improve!

Transforming A HomeJames Hardie siding Wheaton

This home needed a makeover. The home's old siding was in bad shape and was better off being replaced than repaired. With the new James Hardie siding by Wheaton contractors, the home has a clean and modern look with the added benefits of durability and eco-friendly manufacturing.

To finish off the new, modern look, we replaced all soffits and fascia and installed new oversized gutters. These larger gutters were as much a practical choice than aesthetic, because they are less likely to clog with leaves from the area's mature trees.

New doors and windows improved the home's energy efficiency, provided sound reduction (much needed due to the home's location right across the street from school!), and completed the finished look. We rebuilt some of the window openings. This served the dual function of replacing rotted wood and enlarging the windows to create an evenly balanced look on the home. The existing trimwork and sills were replaced with Hardie trim to coordinate with the new siding.

The new entryway was a major change to the home. First, we removed a flat roof porch and constructed a new front entry portico with James Hardie shingles and new decorative posts. This new entry point completely changed the look of the home, making it more welcoming to guests and providing protection from the weather. The look was completed with a new front entry door that featured sidelights and a crowned headpiece.

Also bow windows were on the front of the home. We built these out and installed hip roofs and clad metal roofing and panels below the windows. These windows added balance to the home's appearance as well as a decorative element for added curb appeal.

The garage also received attention during this remodel. In keeping with the new entryway, the garage dormer and gable ends were rebuilt to add decorative elements to the home. A new garage door gives the garage a finished and polished look just like the rest of the house.
