When we pulled up to this brick faced beauty in Park Ridge, curb appeal was definitely something that it wasn’t lacking at all. The house had great architecture to it and at first glance, we were pretty unsure what this homeowner was having us out to begin with! Then we took a walk around to the side of the home and saw the siding… the cedar siding on the sides and back of the home was all dry rotting and looked very weathered. In talking with the homeowner, we quickly learned he was a construction consultant and was definitely someone who did his homework on products! He knew without a shadow of a doubt that James Hardie siding was the product for him, and frankly we weren’t even going to try to talk him out of it!
The current cedar on the house was still going vertical and was a very dull brown that was very popular from the 60’s – 80’s. He was looking to modernize the home with James Hardie lap siding, as well as improve the ventilation in his attic by re-doing all of the fascia and soffit. Switching your siding from vertical to horizontal is something that we as a company would not only recommend, but it is what is architecturally in style due to its clean horizontal lines. He liked the brown color but was looking for a little more modern version of brown. As soon as we showed him Timber Bark, paired with some Navajo Beige trim, he was immediately set on those colors. Then to keep the theme of the house going to the front, we did the fascia, soffit, and gutters also in Navajo Beige which lightened up the front of the house making it feel even more welcoming. By project's end, the homeowner loved the way the James Hardie looked on his home, but more importantly he was very impressed at the workmanship and dedication the staff at Erdmann Exterior Designs put into his home!
